| Honoring California's Veterans | | | - Sponsored informational rallies to educate students about Vietnam War-related
curriculum, titled "Echoes from the Wall," which is being distributed by
Jan Scruggs (Founder of the Vietnam Wall) and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial
Fund (VVMF). - Joined with Kinko's and the VVMF to promote a statewide campaign with the operators
of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial to fill the "Virtual Wall" with photos of
Californians who gave their lives in Vietnam. The "Virtual Wall" is a Web
site that will ultimately contain the pictures of every veteran whose name appears
on the Vietnam Wall. - Sponsored legislation to assist in the construction and operation of
transitional homeless facilities to house and re-train the thousands of California
veterans who go homeless every night. - Initiated "Operation Serving America" with Boston Market and other partners
in 2001 to feed a Thanksgiving meal to more than 1,000 California National
Guard troops stationed at airports after the September 11th terrorist attacks.
